Swiss Swedish Parliamentary Friendship Group Reception – Bern

The Parliaments in Bern and Stockholm have great relations and have had intense interaction and cooperation over the years. The Friendship Group in Bern was established last year in cooperation with in particular Members of the National Council Irene Kälin (President of the Council in 2022) and Martin Candinas (President of the Council in 2023) who now serve as the fantastic co-chairs of the Group, with the Swedish Swiss Chamber of Commerce as secretariat.

This week, the co-chairs, together with the President of the National Council, Eric Nussbaumer, and Member of the National Council Damien Cottier, both members of the Group, met again, to celebrate the friendship between the two countries.

We were delighted to hear from some of our member companies located in Bern to present their activities in Switzerland. A sincere thanks to Michael Khang, MD at Atlas Copco Switzerland, Martin Bürki, MD at Ericsson Switzerland and Claudio Penna, Dr., CEO at Saab Bofors Dynamics Switzerland Ltd.

It was a delight to also host Ambassador Dr. François Voeffray Peyro, now the head of the Americas department at the Swiss Ministry of Foreign Affairs but until recently the Ambassador of Switzerland in Stockholm and one of the proud parents of the Friendship Group.

We are looking forward to continue the role as secretariat for this group to strenghten the relations further between Switzerland and Sweden.
