Concert with Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra – Lugano
We are pleased to invite you to a unique cultural evening with mingle and concert in Lugano, in collaboration with LuganoSvenskarna and the Swedish Consulate in Lugano.
This year, LAC opens its lyrical program with the Göteborgs Symfoniker, and we are therefore delighted to organize a Swedish–Swiss event in connection with this occasion. This will be a wonderful opportunity to experience Nordic and European musical tradition, connect with fellow guests, and enjoy an inspiring program in LAC Lugano Arte e Cultura.
-
The concert opens with Excelsior!, a symphonic overture from 1896 by Wilhelm Stenhammar, one of the most influential Swedish composers, conductor and pianist of his time.
-
Camille Saint-Saëns’ Cello Concerto No. 1 in A minor (1872) follows — a concert that blends energy and poetry, showing Saint-Saëns’ extraordinary ability to tell stories through music.
-
Jean Sibelius’ Sixth Symphony, dedicated to Stenhammar, offers a more ethereal and meditative soundscape, in which the orchestra becomes the instrument of an almost spiritual expression
-
Closing the concert is the Suite from the ballet Den förlorade sonen (The Prodigal Son) by Hugo Alfvén, a work that celebrates the encounter between cultured music and Swedish
folklore.
