From Wealth to Legacy: Governance Frameworks
Join the SSCC and MLL Legal for an evening of family wealth and governance!
As family wealth becomes increasingly global, complex and intergenerational, the long-term preservation of both capital and cohesion depends less on financial performance than on governance, shared purpose, and clear rules. This presentation will explore how to structure durable governance frameworks through various interrelated tools:
-
Family constitutions or charters, as the moral and strategic foundation expressing shared values and long-term vision;
-
Shareholders’ agreements, as flexible and enforceable instruments that translate family principles into binding rules governing ownership, control, succession and dispute resolution;
-
Succession tools and prenuptial agreements, as legal and governance mechanisms designed to protect the family’s strategic assets; and
-
Philanthropy, as an expression of family identity and a powerful governance tool, enabling engagement across generations.
The presenters will discuss how legal stability and contractual freedom can help build a governance architecture that transforms wealth from a potential source of conflict into a foundation for continuity, stewardship and long term purpose
