Webinar – From crisis to resilience: Building a secure Europe in turbulent times

The SSCC in collaboration with the Latin American Chamber of Commerce in Switzerland is pleased to invite you to this exclusive webinar.
Europe is passing through a moment of profound strategic recalibration. The security assumptions that shaped the post-Cold War order – predictable borders, stable deterrence, reliable dialogue, and the belief that economic interdependence would naturally discourage aggression – have been shattered. Russia’s invasion of Ukraine exposed not only the limits of those assumptions but also the vulnerabilities created by years of political fragmentation, underinvestment in defence, and the slow erosion of societal cohesion in the face of polarisation and disinformation.
Politically, Europe must reckon with the fact that unity cannot be episodic; it needs to be durable, institutionalized, and capable of withstanding external pressure and internal disagreement. Militarily, the war has highlighted gaps in readiness, munitions production, logistics, and long-term strategic planning – gaps that cannot be ignored if Europe wants to maintain credible deterrence. And on a societal level, the crisis has shown how easily narratives can be manipulated, how fragile public trust can become, and how essential it is for citizens to understand their role in the broader security ecosystem.
Yet this moment of turbulence also comes with a renewed sense of purpose for some countries. In the past three years, part of Europe has demonstrated an ability to adapt under pressure: unprecedented sanctions coordination, stronger NATO coherence, revived transatlantic dialogue, a massive shift in public awareness around security policy, and a growing willingness to invest in resilience – not only in tanks and technologies, but in education, critical infrastructure, and shared societal values.
Even though by far not all are aligned, the crisis has pushed many institutions, governments, and citizens to rediscover the power of collective resolve. As we look ahead, this combination of realism, unity, and strategic awakening offers a foundation, on which a more secure and resilient Europe can be built.
With that in mind, it is a great privilege and pleasure to invite you to a special joint Zoom webinar offered by the Latin American Chamber of Commerce in Switzerland in partnership with the Swedish-Swiss Chamber of Commerce.
