Sweden and Switzerland have once again ranked as the most innovative countries, by income group.

In 2020, Switzerland and Sweden topped the list of the most innovative countries in the WIPO Global Innovation Index (GII). Innovation is considered as instrumental aspect for the success of economies, at micro and macro scales.

The WIPO ranking, compiled in collaboration with the French business administration institute INSEAD and Cornell University, has shown that both nations reach high results in all parameters.

Sweden and Switzerland are the top ranking nations in the high-income group with Switzerland having held the #1 position since 2011. Considering that Switzerland has the second-highest GDP per capital globally it is not a surprise leader on the list.

The Nordic countries continue top the list across innovation factors like- Knowledge Creation, Global Brand Value, Environmental Performance, and Intellectual Property Receipts- leading to their continued presence among top global innovators.
